Junior Schools Debating Competition

About the Competition

LawSoc is proud to run the Junior Schools Debating Competition for another year. This competition, a long-standing tradition, is entirely organised and judged by LawSoc members.

It serves to promote competitive debating among secondary school students in 1st to 3rd Year, with weekly debates against their peers.

Our History

Founded by Catherine Duplaa, the Leinster Junior Schools Debating Competition has been shaping the future of young debaters for over 20 years.

Many successful debaters have launched their careers through this competition, some of whom have achieved success at European and World University Debating Competitions.

The Impact of Junior Schools Debating

This competition is more than just an event; it’s an opportunity for young students to develop public speaking, critical thinking, and leadership skills that will shape their futures.

It provides a platform for the next generation of debaters to engage in intellectual competition, form lasting friendships, and develop a passion for debate.
